HP SmartStream Designer VDP

Hi,

I'm testing this configurator, but haven't had any successful output yet :-I

Thx to tz8 I've solved the "Can't open template" issue, but the only output I get is a XML log saying:

The DB file is a plain tab delimited textfile.

Any help will be appreciated.

Try reading your DB file with the Smartstream Designer plugin in Indesign. It has a "Verify DB" button. I hope this will make you wiser as to the cause of the problem, but I am not experienced enough with the use SmartStream Designer VDP to know if it will.

I have a setup for demonstration purposes that works well. It uses comma-separated files instead of tab-delimited. Both should be possible judging by what I see in the plugin, but perhaps it is a problem when the setting in the plugin is one and the db file is the other?

That is all I can suggest.

Thx for your reply. I've verified the DB file and it's OK. Delimiter is the same in DB file and template file and I've tried with semicolon and comma files as well, but it all gives the same error.

I simply can't figure out what I'm doing wrong or if there a bug in the software somewhere. I'm running Switch 11 update 1 with version 61 (yes its says sixty one) of the HP VDP configurator. Mac OS X 10.7.5 and InDesign CS5.5 with SmartStream plugin v5.5.1.

Maybe you could upload or link to your demo flow and InDesign/DB files so I could try it out in my setup?
