Imposition - where should it be done

Hi,

This is a more conceptual issue.

I have the privilege to choose whether I want to prepare imposition on a smartstream composer server (designer) or to put it into a hot folder of my hp indigo dfe and to let its imposition engine perform the imposition.

Some more input:



We have two indigos 7600 and 5000



Our print operator is sometimes intervening and changing imposition, which would not be possible if he gets the file already imposed.

Hotfolders quickly get out of control and messy. I like to specify my impositions in the JDF configurator, whenever possible.

In both options I will have only one hot folder. In the dfe option I will use the relevant configurator to provide the imposition as a parameter

Hey all you guys with years of experience in the print industry:



Is it wise to allow/enable the press operator to change imposition or should I do the imposition before with smartstream composer and send the imposed files to the press.
