Email Send using meta data from connect all

Post by darleneroy »

Quick question I'm trying to set up a mail send as a reply to customers that we have received there file. I have a mail send setup and I would like to capture the email address that customers plug in through our connect all. I've selected the variable that grabs that info but it isn't working.

I've placed the variable in the To addresses section. I chose meta data in the options and pick the location of where that information lies.

Can anyone let me know what i'm doing wrong. I'm sure its operator error. I'm just to new to the program to fix it without some help.

What delivery method are you using in the connector and what variable were you using in Switch? is the mail address in the metadata or is the file delivered by mail?

Hi Fred, thanks for your reply. Hopefully I'm answering this right. In our connector we are using a remote delivery through Enfocus switch. Once files are uploaded they hit a submit point here.

Once they've hit a certain folder I want an email to go to the client saying that the file has arrived.

I've setup a series of questions the up-loader has to answer so that we can grab specs from the incoming job. I've go that information emailing to the coordinators here fine.

I want to use that same method to grab the incoming customers email address and send back a reply saying we have their files. Below is the meta info I picked. MF 3 is where the inputted email address is located.

[Metadata.Text:Path="/ValueDescription/MF_3",Dataset="Xml",Model=XML]

I want to capture the email address that is coming in through the meta data attached to the connect all.

The structure of the XML created by a Switch submit point and the structure of the XML of metadata that you define in Connect are different.

You are using a remote delivery through a Switch submit point, but the XPath you are using is suited for the structure of Connect metadata.

Send a file into the flow from the Connector and hold it somewhere so you get a sample job and then look at the Sumbit dataset and you will see the difference.

Hi Freddy you seem to really have a good knowledge base with enfocus switch. Can you suggest any reference material or things I can learn to become a better enfocus user. I find their manual to be very limited when it comes to explaining things to novice users.

Thanks

I guess that working for Enfocus helps :).

The documentation is exactly that: documentation, and as such I have to say it is very complete. But it is not a tutorial, so I understand that for the novice user there is a lot of material to go through. Keep on going, practice makes perfect!

Hi Freddy, I tried what you said. I do see the difference. I've made the adjustment and now the email is picking up the value of the email field. Before I didn't have it actually picking up the value just the field location.

Thanks

Dar
