How do you find and choose good books to read?

Whenever you hear of a book from a reliable source, quickly flip through the table of contents/preface/reviews (perhaps on Amazon). Get a basic sense of the book and add it to your list if it sounds interesting. I'm generally quite liberal about adding books to my list. Add first, ask questions later.
