Image Alchemy

Post by pb4072 »

Hello,

I've been using a software product for almost twenty years now. It's called Image Alchemy. It's made by Handmade Software in California. I use it to convert image formats. Specifically, because it includes a postscript RIP, I use it to convert PDF or EPS files to TIFF, PNG, GIF, etc., etc.

Anyway, when I installed Switch this morning I noticed that it asked me about checking or unchecking a variety of applications, whether or not I wanted to include them in my Switch world. Well, if my application, in my case Image Alchemy, is not in that list presented to me, does that mean that it can't be used with Switch?

I'm brand new to Switch, so, forgive my ignorance.

Thanks,

Peter

Only a very limited number of applications are supported by Switch "out of the box". However, it's possible to use just about any 3rd part application in Switch. There are a couple of options. You could call the application via AppleScript or VBScript. You could call it via the command-line or write your own Configurator using Javascript. The choice depends on the 3rd party application's architecture. Is it a command-line app with options? Is it a GUI app that supports scripting?
