use dynamic index with XML Metadata

Hi,

I can't get to make this work. Let's say I have the file "foo-1".pdf
and some xml structure like
<nodes>
<node index="1" value="bar"/>
</nodes>

I wish I could set the node index based on the index I can find in the file name but I can't get to use a variable inside a variable :\

Any ideas ?
