Checking for and Changing Maximum Ink Coverage

Hi,
We print book covers on digital (Xerox) printers, which eventually get film laminated. When toner cover gets high, the film lam has a very difficult time adhering properly after all the finishing steps, especially in the area of the spine creases.
Is it possible for PitStop Pro to check for a certain total ink coverage limit (as a percentage), and automatically reduce the total ink percentage? I would imagine this would cause a shift in color though.
Thanks in advance for any replies.
