a lot of unique name prefix

Hello,

I post for the first time.

I use "FTP receive".

Sometimes, when Switch download a job from FTP site, the unique name prefixs are added to the job again and again.

Because of that, job name becomes to so long that Windows can't treat the job in "backing" folder.

So, the job never be moved to next flow element.

And the job never be moved to "Problem jobs" either.

The flow doesn't loop.

For example, the job name with unique name prefixs is below.

"_2B4YR__2ABP0__2ABOZ__2ABOY__2ABOX__2ABOW__2ABOV__2ABOU__2ABOT__2ABOS__2ABOR__2ABOQ__2ABOP__2ABOO__2ABON__2ABOM__2ABOL__2ABOK__2ABOJ__2ABOI__2ABOH__2ABOG__2ABOF__2ABOE__2ABOD__2ABOC__2ABOB__2ABOA__2ABO9__2ABDF_StartTime_irodori_00000375286_20140513153322.TXT"

If anyone experiences a phenomenon like this, please advise me.

Thank you.

This is very strange. I notice that the unique ID's are only partly consecutive. There is first one (the rightmost one) and then there is a gap. Then there are 28 consecutive ID's and then there is a gap again. When you have this again, see if you can detect a similar pattern.

There have been cases where virus scan software caused problems in the backing folders. FTP does not keep a file closed during transfer, so if the virus scan software is examining the file during transfer Switch is likely to see this as the file having been changed and it creates a new job and this goes into a loop.

I am not sure of course whether it is this phenomenon in your case, but you could try making the Switch backing folder structure an exception for the virus scan software.

Dear Freddy,

Thank you very much for your advise.

I didin't notice the pattern you said, but I understand.

So, I'm going to check our virus scan software's settings.

When I get any updates about this problem on our end, I'll post to this thread.

Apologies for my strange English.

Hello again,

Thank you for your previous advises.

After that, We changed our virus scan software's settings.

So it doesn't examine the files in the backing folder and in the process of transfer.

But the problem happened again.

It may happens occasionally and most files are no problem.

The full messages are below.

These are repeated at intervals of one minutes.

If you have any other ideas, could you please let me know.

What is the interval you use for "FTP receive"?

In the Switch Preferences under Processing there is a setting "Process file only after (secs)". What is the value for that?

There was an issue in older Switch versions that could cause this when you had crashes of the Switch Service. Would it be possible to tell us which Switch version you use and if you see anything in the messages that shows that Switch is restarting often?

I do not think the forum is a good place to investigate this rather specific problem further. Please send a mail to support@enfocus.com and refer to this post by copying and pasting the URL. They will ask you to send log files etc.
