How to match PDF and XML?

Hello,

How does Switch match xml and Pdf?

What does the xml need to contain that it can be matched with the right pdf?

We are using xmpie ustore/uproduce,

The provided xml contains just the order ID, not the pdf filename, can switch still match pdf and xml with these informations?

I think you should look into the XML Pickup and Assemble configurators. If you're looking to match them together, then Assemble. If you want to merge the XML data into the PDF as metadata, then XML Pickup. Each configurator has a bunch of ways to match different files together.

I think you should look into the XML Pickup and Assemble configurators. If you're looking to match them together, then Assemble. If you want to merge the XML data into the PDF as metadata, then XML Pickup. Each configurator has a bunch of ways to match different files together.

Hi, i found some informations, do i get it right, pdf and xml just need to have the same name to be matched?

Metadata alongside asset

The metadata source (which is always a single file) and the corresponding asset (which may be a file or a job folder) are both placed in one of the pickup tool's input folders (the same folder or a different one) at the top level (that is, immediately under the input folder). Both have the same name but a different filename extension.

That's the easiest way to do it but you can also specify a more advanced pattern or possibly have the metadata itself reference the asset.

Hi, unfortunately we cannot use the easy way... I just had a closer look into the xml and PDfs our system is generating.

The name of the XML is the Order ID

The XML contains 42122

To identify each product.

(Xml can contain more than just one product)

We now have the problem that the Pdf Files

Does sometimes just named "output.pdf".

Is there even a way to match these pdfs with an xml?

Well, you could rename one or the other... I think you need to figure out logically how any system could determine that "output.pdf" belongs to a particular XML file. Is it referenced in the XML file by that file name?
