Is there anyway in Pitstop using actions to scale PDFs to a fixed width?
I'm trying to ensure that oversized PDFs and reduced to a maximum width but allow the height to be in pro.
I have portrait and landscape PDFs that must not exceed a given width.
Thanks for any help

There is an Action "Scale to fit page size" that will do what you want. You can use variables as well when you want to use it in combination with Switch.

Thanks for the swift reply.
I don't appear to have that action. Can you attach it?
The problem I have with most of the actions is that I must enter a height width. I don't want to do this I want this to be variable but in pro to the width once the PDF has been scaled down to the maximum allowed width. Am I missing something?

As Freddy suggested use the "Scale to fit page size" action. Scale Page content and page boxes until the Trimbox fits the desired width. Set the hight to something larger than the tallest page you would come across. Then make sure to select "Constrain proportions of content page; allow non proportional scaling of page boxes where needed.
This way you will get the desired width and a variable hight.
Bear in mind that this will scale to the desired width even for pages that are smaller than this width. If you want to scale only oversized pages start the action with a "Select by page size" and select only pages with a with larger than the desired width.

Thanks for the feedback.
I managed to get this to work using Automator as part of the flow.
This converted the PDF, adjusted the resolution and scaled the jpeg to a set width
